Healthcare Assistant – The London Independent Hospital


About the Role

The London Independent Hospital, part of Circle Health Group – the UK’s largest independent healthcare provider – is seeking a dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join the Wards team.

This role is ideal for someone with a caring nature, excellent communication skills, and experience in supporting patients within a healthcare or care setting.


Key Responsibilities

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will:

  • Support patients with personal care (washing, dressing, toileting, mobility, oral care) while respecting dignity and preferences.

  • Assist with nutrition and hydration, including recording patient intake where required.

  • Provide emotional support to patients and their families in a safe and caring environment.

  • Carry out routine clinical observations (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, blood glucose) after training.

  • Assist with basic clinical procedures (e.g. wound care setup, catheter care, pressure area prevention).

  • Prepare and maintain clinical areas, equipment, and patient spaces to high standards.

  • Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to ensure safe, efficient patient care.


Candidate Requirements

We’re looking for applicants who can demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary).

  • Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills.

  • Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns where necessary.

  • Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.

  • Physical ability to carry out duties including moving and handling tasks.

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) – desirable.

  • Understanding of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures.
