Healthcare Assistant – The London Independent Hospital
About the Role
The London Independent Hospital, part of Circle Health Group – the UK’s largest independent healthcare provider – is seeking a dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join the Wards team.
This role is ideal for someone with a caring nature, excellent communication skills, and experience in supporting patients within a healthcare or care setting.
Key Responsibilities
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will:

Support patients with personal care (washing, dressing, toileting, mobility, oral care) while respecting dignity and preferences.

Assist with nutrition and hydration, including recording patient intake where required.

Provide emotional support to patients and their families in a safe and caring environment.

Carry out routine clinical observations (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, blood glucose) after training.
-
Assist with basic clinical procedures (e.g. wound care setup, catheter care, pressure area prevention).

Prepare and maintain clinical areas, equipment, and patient spaces to high standards.

Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to ensure safe, efficient patient care.
Candidate Requirements
We’re looking for applicants who can demonstrate:

Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary).

Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills.
-
Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns where necessary.

Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
-
Physical ability to carry out duties including moving and handling tasks.
-
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) – desirable.

Understanding of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures.
